Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg surprised 100 of his closest friends and family on Saturday when he and longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan exchanged vows at a surprise wedding in their own backyard, according to People.com. Guests thought they were coming over to toast Chan, who had recently graduated from UCSF medical school, but the pair had other plans. Zuckerberg and Chan had been planning an intimate backyard wedding, which included a family-style meal from two of the couple’s favorite restaurants, for more than four months, according to a source authorized by the couple.

In a photo posted on both Zuckerberg and Chan’s Facebook timelines, the newly-married duo pose against a lush backdrop of foliage and a string of lights. The bride wears a stunning sleeveless wedding gown with lace overlay and the groom, who is notorious for favoring hoodies over haute couture, wears a black suit and tie.

The bride’s ring, which was rumored to have been designed by the groom, features a single ruby stone. The ruby is the July birthstone and is traditionally associated with the values of love, success, integrity, passion, and promise.
